We Have a Date

News flash: We've been given a tentative date of April 12 for Brooke's diaphragmatic pacer surgery! Of course, we know what "tentative" means, but just the same we're thrilled.

Fantastic news! After all Brooke's hard work and the progress he has made, it's good to finally have a date to plan for, like a hook to hang your hat. I'll look forward to updates and news of the plans as the day grows closer.

I realised yesterday that the Spring Equinox had passed unremarked in our household, which right now is based in a hotel room in Salzburg as we wait for our shipment of goods and the flat to be ready. We took a quick trip to Munich on Sunday, an hour and a half each way by good motorway. We're so much in the Alps here that it wasn't until we were returning from Munich that we could see the Alps. Beautiful.

Keep up the good work. You continue to be in my thoughts daily.

Love,
Lorraine

What great news that the pacer will be on its way in the near future. How great too that Peggy has recuperated (now pacing herself we all hope, to sustain energy and health!), and that Brooke has given us a Wordsworth to meditate on, one worthy of study & rereadings, in such simplicity. Though I must say old Proust is indeed a mouthful to undertake, but probably a good challenge for diaphragmatic development...

In musing on your Wordsworth I happened upon "Nuns fret not at their convent's narrow room" , with its extraordinarily realized rhyme scheme, itself homage to the sonnet, "..'twas pastime to be bound/Within the Sonnet's scanty plot of ground;"
It rang quite true for me, in a sense, considering a lifetime's darkroom labor, what some would deem a prison, " In truth the prison unto which we doom/ Ourselves, no prison is... ". Of course your own narrow room is not one inhabited by choice, but it IS one, thanks to your firm readings, memories, and intuitions, in which your own ..."bees (can) soar for bloom,/ High as the highest Peak of Furness-fells,/ (to) murmur by the hour in foxglove bells..". Ah, Wordsworth, what can one say?

cheers Brooke, much love from all,

Ed

Dear Brooke & Peggy,

What great news! We're down near Kanab doing some desert hiking but will see you soon.
